Sherina and her children had experienced homelessness before they were able to move into Jordan Downs public housing in Watts several years ago. Today, Sherina works within her community to recruit construction workers for the Jordan Downs revitalization, where BRIDGE and partners are rebuilding the distressed housing and transforming the community.

To date, the program has achieved a 71% local hire rate for new jobs created, exceeding the development’s 30% local hire goal. Sherina is completing her G.E.D., and she and her family are looking forward to moving into a brand-new apartment.
